Are you tired of playing boring Flash games? If so, you might want to try The Bow Game. Through it, you assume the role of a medieval archer, who must shoot a series of flying discs to prove his prowess. If you play successfully, you will win trophies and unlock other portions of the game.
To begin The Bow Game, you must decide which weapon you’re going to use. If you want to jumpstart the game, use one of the bows pictured at the top of the screen. Otherwise, choose “Weapons” from the right portion of the screen. From there, you will have to choose from four types of bows: short, long, composite and crossbow. For each choice, there will be one or two weapons that are initially available. The other selections will be locked. If you hover the mouse over the locked weapons, you will see a message telling you what needs to be done to unlock the weapon.
Also note that all of the weapons will have a series of stars next to them. These stars represent the weapon’s placement on the quick-start menu. However, only three weapons can be visible. This means the arrangement will change every time you select a different star. Keep this in mind when selecting your favorite bows.
Now, at this point, you might be wondering what the differences are with each of the weapons. Well, some have more staying power than others. You will also notice that some will have different shooting styles. The best thing to do is to experiment with each one until you find the weapon that best suites you.
Anyway, after you have chosen your bow, you need to decide which game you’re going to play. If you prefer to practice your shooting before actually playing an official game, select the “Warm-Up” option. It will allow you to shoot arrows at a line of barrels. No penalties are issued if you cannot hit them.
Things work differently if you choose “Challenge” or “Campaign.” With the challenge option, you can select three different bow games that will test your speed, skill and accuracy. The easiest of these games is the speed test, where you shoot a series of non-moving discs as fast as you can. The accuracy test is the next easiest, as you are expected to shoot at one moving disc. Finally, there is the skill challenge, where you have to shoot a series of brown barrels to try and reveal the green barrel. Once revealed, you must try and shoot at it to gain expert status.
The Bow Game Campaign option operates on a different premise. It allows you to play two mini-games: defense and efficiency. The defense campaign requires you to shoot flying discs that contain a counter. The counter represents how many times you have to hit the disc before it shatters.
The Efficiency campaign is harder. Its objective requires you to hit one disc with a counter. However, there is a catch. The disc is protected by a moving barrier. You must try and shoot the arrow in the barrier’s opening if you want to hit the disc. Even worse, you must do this before your time runs out.
In either case, as you progress through the two campaigns, you will unlock more levels. However, the fun doesn’t end there. If you can also do well on the challenges, you will win medals that will earn you access to the unlocked weapons. This will give you more variety with your gameplay.
