Super Mario Star Scrambler 2
May 17, 2010

Super Mario Star Scramble 2 is, despite the astoundingly long name, pretty simple (and fun) to play. It takes the basic formula that has made Super Mario brothers games classics, and puts its own unique spin on it.

Super Mario Level
A platformer at its core, “Super Mario Star Scramble 2” tasks the player with going from level to level, world to world, collecting a predetermined number of stars to open the door to the next level. The game play can be quite addictive, harkening back to the Super Nintendo days when playing Mario was (and still is, actually) so much fun. If there are any complaints, it would be that the plat former controls are a little slippery. Being that it’s a flash game, this is understandable, albeit sometimes rather frustrating. There is nothing more disappointing than falling off a ledge at the end of a level because the ‘right’ key was held down for two seconds too long. Still, this also adds an unforeseen challenge to the game that makes its completion all the more rewarding.
“Super Mario Star Scrambler 2″ isn’t without its faults, but its ability to capture the nostalgia of old-school plat formers is enough to overlook any minor gripes. This is a game worth playing for those that are too young to remember the Super Nintendo, and those that are too old to forget it.
