Reaction Time Test Game
March 24, 2010

Reaction Time Test is a short game that, as the title states, measures the speed of your reaction time. The game requires you to shoot runaway sheep with a tranquilizer dart. The test begins with several sheep milling about on the left side of the screen. The player will have the chance to shoot up to five of them as they unexpectedly, and quickly, dash to the right.
You don’t have to aim for the sheep but instead shoot the dart by clicking on a box at the bottom center of the screen. Points are awarded by how quickly you click the dart box after each sheep begins its run. But be careful. If you click the dart box before any sheep starts moving, you will both lose the chance to tranquilize that sheep and incur a 3-second penalty.
After five darts, the reaction test game scores you based on your total reaction times, minus any false-start penalties, with a rating system that ranges from “Sluggish Snail” to “Turbo Charged Cheetah“. The game also advises low-scoring players to get themselves a cup of coffee before trying again. These elements, along with the snoring z’s emanating from the tranquilized sheep, introduce an element of humor that livens up a traditional reaction time test. Since the game is easy to learn and quick to play, it lends itself to repeated playing, and it’s fun to see your scores getting better and better with each test.
